TAGHEER has been contracted by UNESCO to undertake a situation analysis/enumeration exercise of Higher Education at a national level and at all public and private universities across Afghanistan.
Higher education in Afghanistan has had good achievements in the past two decades in terms of access, education quality, and management systems. Public and private universities played a strong role in expanding higher education throughout the country; however, the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020, recent political developments in 2021, and the weaker financial position of people resulted in the emergence of unprecedented challenges, particularly for students, teachers, and admin staff participation in higher education. Among other issues, access to up-to-date data on higher education is a key challenge for the development partners and stakeholders to extend their support to sustain the higher education service delivery.
TAGHEER has been contracted by UNESCO to undertake a situation analysis/enumeration exercise of Higher Education at national level and at all public and private universities across Afghanistan. The analysis will help understand access to and quality of higher education as well as needs and existing gaps. The analysis will further explore opportunities and challenges in order to facilitate information-driven programming by partners and stakeholders for higher education development in Afghanistan.
